world economy visualisation

Hi
no idea how accurate this is, but it is quite interesting to see where we seem to be placed at present (or at least where we were before the bottom fell out of the commodity markets).

edit: come to think of it, we have big economy but few people - so who has all the money?

Hi Ray,

Interesting graph, I was surprised that Russia's GDP was so small.

Some chick in the comments section reckons the figures are wrong and China's GDP should be double that of the USA.

Like you I don't know if they are accurate and the author doesn't state his source or the age of his data.

Regards
Bill

We all do. Australia is richer than it has ever been. The issue is that we are far less resilient than in the past. The loss of manufacturing and of oil refining capacity has left us very vulnerable in the case of any interruption to shipping.

Hi,

China's GDP is definitely not double that of the USA.

World bank figures for 2013 have GDP's
USA USD 16.8 trillion
China USD 9.2 trillion

China's growth has been running much higher than the USA these past 2 years 7.3% vs 2.2% but this 5% difference not nearly enough to close the gap let alone make it double that of the USA.

The figures are probably a bit off, depends how old the diagram is.

Joe
