Send your Name to Mars

In March 2016, NASA plans to launch a mission from Vandenberg AFB to put the geophysical lander, InSight on Mars. You can submit your name for inclusion on a microchip that will be fixed on the structure of the lander.

Link to the Home Page is at http://mars.nasa.gov/participate/sen...-name/insight/

And you even get a unique Boarding Pass, and Frequent Flyer Miles!

Last day for registration is September 8th 2015. My astronomy club is sharing this with school groups.

This is graffiti - high tech - but still graffiti.

Why oh why do people have this dreadful urge to plaster their inconsequential names on things.

They may as well carve "Foo was here" in the rock, at least it might be visible from an orbiting camera.

At least Mars does have wind erosion, perhaps after a few billion years it will have reduced the lander to dust.
