Question About GMail Tabs

Hey guys,

just recently my tabs (primary/social/promotion) on my Gmail have been suffering from delayed reaction.

I click them and nothing happens for 2 or 3 seconds, - then the tab changes to the selected one.

I've also noticed that when I search for something in Google, it takes the same few seconds to actually start the search, - just sitting there thinking about it in the meantime.

I'm on a Windows 7 Prof PC with an Intel i5 CPU and 8GB memory. It has run faultlessly for three years until this incident.

I've run a virus scanner (AVG Free) with no problems. I've also run CCleaner and got rid of some crap but none of this has made the slightest bit of difference.

Has anyone seen this on their own PC? It's driving me NUTS !!

Cheers guys,

No such issues here

What browser are you using - Chrome, IE, or other?

Is your browser up to date?

Do you have some browser plug-ins which could be slowing it down (e.g. do you have some sort of "safe web" plug-in, which checks every web page before it loads the next web page?)

Hi Julian,

mine used to be ok too. This just started a fortnight or so ago - can't remember exactly when.

I'm using Firefox and it's up to date. I know some may say to use chrome, but this has been fine til now.

The only thing I did change at about the same time, was to get rid of the Kaspersky AV software that I had (it was causing issues that even their tech support couldn't help with on all three of my PCs/lappies) and installed AVG Free version instead.

But I've disabled AVG and the problem is still there, so I'm not sure what it could be. The AVG is also on my old XP 32 bit PC sat right next to my Win7 PC and it doesn't suffer the tab delays that I'm getting - so I'm tempted to think it's NOT the AVG.

Ah-ha!

Found it. It's an add-on that I only recently installed for something. I actually need the extension, but not all the time, so I'll just enable it when I want that feature.

Panic over. Thanks for your help those who commented
