I had to phone the ATO the other day to find out what they were doing with my return.... they have only had it registered in their system for about 5 weeks (I mailed it 9 weeks ago!) - still haven't given me my refund.... expecting about $9k so I'm pretty eager!

$9k!? Don't you pay tax during the year, Lee?

I got back about $750, better than a kick in the teeth. Only took a week after submitting it. Kate got $500 for the baby bonus, too. It paid for the treadmill!

Newtons Third Law of Finance works with uncanny accuracy in our house at tax time.
No matter what the size of the return, there is a bill/s of an equal amount recieved at the same time.

I did my tax about 6 weeks ago and I owe them $450 by the end of November , bummer, there goes the Meade ultra wide eyepeice I was planning to buy . The ATO isn't getting the money I've put away for the wedge though.
It also would be nice if the government would let me claim for all the extra equipment I had to buy for being with the Rural Fire Service, no complaints I've love what I do, it just would have be nice.

cheers

Did mine a few weeks ago, got my return but still haven't put the cheque into the bank yet...should do it Saturday morning? Just have to work out what to spend it on...hmm...another Pentax? A ParCorr? So what can you get for a cool seventeen bucks? Better than a slap in the belly with a wet fish.
