Going away to the APY lands

Heading up to the APY lands for work in couple of weeks. Perfect timing with the new moon. Will be my first time under dark skies in about 15 years. Pity I can't take my telescope :-( Anyone viewed from up in this region?

Why can't you take your scope?

Every year, a group of us do some fairly serious 4x4 stuff in remote central Oz and further afield.

I always take my neq6 + C6 - given sufficient padding, even those endless, damned corrugations don't muck up collimation (SCT, though).

Flying to Alice and then on small charter plane to an Aboriginal community. We are limited with the amount of luggage we can take.
