Ngc 5364

Well here we go - at last! 5 hours 30 minutes worth of images for NGC 5364 with the new CentralDS Astro6D. This is what I have been working on getting images of everytime it has been clear lately since I've had the 6D. I did have 7 hours in total but discarded the first lot of images as it killed the final quality. Enjoy!

You can see many tiny background galaxies starting to appear as well (well over magnitude 18).

Very nice. An interesting field indeed. So thats a total of 5 hours and 30 min. I would have thought you would get more data at that exposure length? Is it because the ED100 is rather slow at F9?

Nice going Mike. Some good detail starting to come out. That 6D does a pretty good job by the look of it. The background noise doesn't have the colour splotches that are common from a dslr. Send some of that clear weather up this way please. We've had more rain so far this winter than we had in the wet season.

Thanks mate - yeah the ED100 is a fairly slow scope and isn't the best thing for deep space however with the 0.85x it's down to F7.65 which isn't too bad. The biggest problem I've had with all the subs for this is horrible viewing of between 1-3 at best the whole time. Last nights ones were at a whopping 98% humidity. I'm going to re-stack this again at some stage with some darks and flats as well.

Thanks very much Rex, Mike, Marc and Geoff! This is the first time I've imaged in weeks - here in Mackay we've had close to 120mm this month (average is usually 60ish for this time of year during the "dry season").
