Despite having wind last night that nearly blew the mortgage off the house , got a decent image of the HH , good reason for having a dome I guess.
10" F3.5 , ST2000 , 2hours 6nm Ha and one hour total for the RGB

Don't know where Zeta went but I hope it doesn't come back in a hurry makes it tuff to image with wider field gear.
Gary , fortunately I have the gear permanently set up and with out the dome I would have stayed in bed and thought of something better to do .

I thought it might be you.....
I remember quite a while back before ccd's entered the amateur arena and you were taking some of the loveliest, delicate images with emoltion that were shown in Sky and Space and any other mag at the time for that matter.
Now your doing some excellent images with CCD's.
This image is very well blended with the Ha to the rgb's, very rich and showing the reef's vertical streamers.
You must have had a late one to capture this summer time object ,good Zeta and Al didn't look like it gave you too much grief!

Is the F3.5 a home built scope??
Ahh, now I had a close look at your pic, I see it was a Meade SN10".
You obviously used the Keller corrector to acheive this FL.
The Moonlite focuser would be a very good upgrade for this system as well i'd say.

Its taken a long time to get my head around CCD , im a bit of a luddite really and used to be at home in the darkroom but have had to move on to CCD for the incredible andvantages it brings.
As they say you either ride the steamroller of change or become part of the road.
I feel like it is a home built scope after all the mods.
The corrector is actualy a Borg 50mm F10 APO which are unavailable now and I've moved the moonlite CR2 to the 24" and replaced it with a motorized moonlite which is great.
The next mod maybe to move the the schmidt corrector 400mm to give a 35mm corrected field , could be a bit snug in the dome though , the currant set up is fine for typical DSLR.
Good luck with you 10" , imaging at around the 1000mm FL seems to be ideal for me and I hope you will be happy with it to.

It's a very well imaged object, particularly by our northern friends but it is always a great object to look at when imaged well, like you have here!
There appears to be a bright bar or line of nebulosity running across the curtain of nebulosity above the head..? I think this may be an artifact of your processing, what do you think? Never seen this before..?

and Mike I'm not sure what the bar is I may have discovered something totaly new , after all back in my days with the Schmidt Camera I discovered Dark Mater which is apparently fluff and dust made by the guy puting the film into the scope , do I get any credit....no , life is so cruel
