A Starless Eagle

Thought this might be worth a look.

Here is a stack of 13x1200sec Ha from my earlier post on M16.

High Res here - http://www.astrobin.com/186672/

I used Straton software http://www.zipproth.com/Straton/ to remove the stars for J-P Metsavianio's tone mapping technique in one easy click. Seems a good value buy at just 15Euros.

Not perfect but it's VERY fast and easy. It's PC only so I had to install BootCamp my mac laptop (hope I don't go the hell for that!).

There are some interesting textures in the nebula that are often somewhat overpowered by stars.

Anyway, thanks for looking

Andy

Very smooooothhh.

Is that FLT the one with the TEC lens? Yuri used to make the triplet lens for the FLT110 at one stage.

Greg.

That's impressive Andy. It's nice to be able to study the detail without having to squint into the lights :-)

Like it a lot Andy. I think starless works very well with the eagle as there are quite a few distracting stars in the field.

Cheers

Steve

To help, the tec designed flt110 does not make mention that its a tec lens. The TMB designed flt110 says "designed by T.M.B." on the lens cell.

Great image mate.

Thanks mate - yes there's an underworldly quality to it all right. Funny what our brain does to interpret an image, it's a very different perception when those pesky stars are removed completely.

Onya Trev, cheers - as I mentioned above - seems that perception is relative.

Thanks Steve - starless seems to suit this subject, which is ironic as its a famous starforming nebula

Thx Alex - can't see anything like that written anywhere obvious though.

Er, thx Simmo - yes the program is good. This operator enjoys using well considered and designed tools - now if it was only available on the mac
