Sydney Area Observing

Hi,

I've finally completed my initial setup for astrophotography and would like to do some nights with it. Anyone around Sydney has a good place for observing?

Thanks!

Edward

Edward the answer to that depends on which part of town you're in, whether you just want an oval to give it a try or whether you're prepared for a 2h drive to reach darker skies.

I can think of a few spots in the city but they're within the light pollution of course, and there's not much point suggesting places an hour and a half across town for the sake of an hour messing with the scope.

My own preference is Mt Blackheath or Katoomba if the airstrip is available.
