Revisiting my first - NGC5139

I still remember buying my telescope and setting it up the first night. Threw my Nikon D200 on the back pointed it at NGC5139 and rattled away. Man was I amazed at my results (second picture).

This week I figured the first photo of the winter season should be to give it the treatment it so properly deserves. 6h 40min with 300sec subs. Funny thing is my D200 has the same sensor as the QHY8 I'm using now, though quite a bit of a difference in results.

/edit: not 300min subs

My first. Posted in a different post because for some reason it kept coming up as the thread preview.

Hi Chris

Nice crisp image, and great star colours. You'd have to be happy with that.
Are you off to Astrofest again this year?

I'd be interested to hear how the mega-controller project has evolved.

Rob

Yes definitely off to astro-fest this year.

Mega controller project has a working autofocus controller now. I'm madly trying to 3D print revision 2 of enclosure since the first attempt didn't quite fit. Hoping to have a closed box of a product mounted on my scope by then :-)

Very nice. Qhy8 and d200 do not have the same sensor at all? The d70 and d50 have the same 6.1mp sensor as the qhy8. The d200 is a 10.2mp sensor.

Yeah, 300min subs sound a bit unrealistic , but regardless, one can not deny a significant improvement from the first edition to the second edition.
Well done

Yep a total of 1.33 subs. That's how I roll.

Maybe 300seconds. But I did a check and found the root cause of all my problems: "Yesterday, 10:45 PM" Yep I shouldn't post anything that late at night.
