More KFC...

Ahoy comrades!

I was hoping to capture further detail with longer subs, and this time did not apply noise reduction at all. In total nearly six hours of sky data. Also planning to collect OIII and SII data in the coming weeks.

Any feedback that would help to improve the image will be very welcomed.

Thank you Russell, Rick and Michael for encouragement.

Since it rains today, I reprocessed the image with the aim of enhancing contrast and reducing noise while maintain detail.

The result is here: http://www.astrobin.com/full/165710/B/

Also tried Drizzle Integration in PI; it worked quite well for me - might be a neat way for up-sizing the images for a larger print.

Looks really good.
I really like the sharpness and detail.
How long were the subs and did you do and decon or sharpening?
that 102mm scope is quite something.

I think a version inbetween the first and the last might be good as the last version is a bit too contrasty and the stars detract from the neb IMO.

Cheers
Alistair

Thank you Alistair for you very kind feedback.

First version (A) was not tempered with by any processing, other than subtracting bias frames and stacking them and of course stretching.

Version B (the one you preferred) has minor noise reduction and soft HDR applied in Pix Insight.

Version C is a result of Drizzle Integration, as well as HDR.

Subs were 500s long.

To be honest, this telescope is just okay with narrowband (useless for RGB), what makes a difference is the 3nm Astrodon filter.

Thanks
Slawomir
