Thanks to Al Sheeny's alert on this site I raced outside to take some shots with my Sony A7r and Nikon 14-24mm F2.8 lens.
Looking at the LCD I did not notice anything special but took several shots anyway as they looked nice.
I thought I should process them as this little Sony is very bright at ISO6400 (brighter than my Nikon D800e at ISO6400).
Sure enough there was some aurora recorded which is a first for me.
Here are 2. One is interesting in that looking south the sky was magenta but looking north it was green.
Out of interest I also took more last night. Processing them I see the sky was very very green from airglow. It probably is tonight as well.
