5 New Images

Hi everyone, here are some images I captured a couple months ago. I captured Melotte 15, IC 1848, NGC 896, NGC 7129, and IC 342.

I sure hope the weather clears soon, sunny southern California my a**!

BTW, how do you attach an image so it appears next to the thread title?

Thanks for looking,

JB

Those are wonderful!
I especially like your variations on the first couple

If you want to attach an image to your post first it will need to be quite small - under 200kb. Then click the little paperclip icon above the text area when you're composing your post.

Some nice images of objects not familiar to a lot of southerners, John! I think I like Melotte 15 and Soul neb best. IC342 seems like a particularly difficult target?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Hugh. I had data from 7 filters so I played around a bit. I am just learning how to blend Ha with red and other combos so I get some pretty strange results at times! Thanks also for the tip on posting pics.

Hi Rick, thanks for kind words. IC 342 is tough as its shot right through some dense parts of our galaxy. I've seen many different colors on the intertubes and am not really sure what is correct. PI with Color Calibration yielded my result and I usually leave it as is with LRGB data. Another factor is I image from my home which is in the light dome of Los Angeles and its suburbs. This really limits my exposure times and I'm sure this has other negative effects.

Thanks, Louie. It was fun since I am learning how to blend NB with broadband. I have 7 filters worth of data so what the heck!

Thanks David. I had several images from earlier this winter and it was fun to process everything during the bad weather. So it finally clears here and its a full moon and galaxy season! Sounds about right...

Thanks George. I have been using PI for several months now and think I am having some success. Of course just when I think I am rolling I start playing with a new tool or script and find out just how little I know...
