NGC3293 - The Pendant

Great little cluster in Carina and on the southern edge of Gum 30. (South is Up)

Its the subject of recent studies by ESO amongst others looking at the evolution of clusters as this object is around 10 million years old but contains both blue giants and orange super giants indicating stars are aging at different rates.

There is an RGB image and also a link to a Ha blend which shows the nebulosity in the surrounding area. Still working through blending narrow band so bear with me

RGB

LRGB with Ha as L

Theres around 5 hours of RGB and 6 of Ha in this using the GSO RC8 and STL 6303e, processed with PI.

Thanks for looking

Great result Dave, in fact you beat me to it, this was a likely target for my next imaging session too ...if it ever clears up

I like the straight RGB version best, very nice

Lovely, David.

The H-alpha RGB compares well with the 2.2 metre ESO shot!

Thanks Marc. Not sure about how the ha turned out either but was keen to see what was tucked away under the broadband

Thanks Mike. Weird Pentagon shape surrounding the cluster, not a critter in sight.

Cheers Mike. I waited a year to redo this after imaging chain and weather gods challenges so am pleased it's in the bag. Hope you get to do your rendition some time soon.

Have you tried to do a LUM with 50/50 Ha and Red? I know it's not easy to match the star sizes but it might work a bit better.
