FOUND: .965 eyepieces - Thanx

Hi all,

Morbius Jr's scope is almost completed and ready for first light .

Eyepieces - FOUND
Now the old Tasco OTA came with a couple of .965 eyepieces (4mm and 20mm) and I'd like to get him another eyepiece or two somewhere in between. I haven't had a lot of luck finding new ones, so was hoping there would be some 2nd hand ones floating around.

Finder - FOUND
MJ also wants a red dot finder for his scope (just like Dad )... so I'm also in the market for one of those or... something similar (i.e. - easy to use for a kid) for a small (4.5") dob.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

cheers -- randall

Check with Bintel in Sydney I recall they had some .965 eyepieces lying around - not sure if they were for sale.

Ive got a 6mm 'tri-plane' probably a bit close to the 4mm but your welcome to it. Hasnt been used since 1975.

Also I've got a red dot finder no longer used since I upped to a Telrad (the best) its a noname clone of the Orion - EZ II Reflex Sight, again gathering dust.

pm me if interested.

oops back to the second half (go Sea Eagles)

I'm sure I saw a couple of those with one of the vendors at Astrofest. It might have been York. Give them a tingle.

Randall,

To be perfectly honest I think your better off hunting down a 2nd hand 1.25" focuser, fitting that to the scope and then getting him a couple of 1.25" eyepieces. You then have a lot more options open so far as eyepieces are concerned. You should be able to pick up a 2nd hand 1.25" focuser for about $30 or less. Someone may even have 1 lying around you can have.

That's an excellent (and obvious) option that I hadn't considered....
