Central Coast people

For those on the central coast (rodstar, hector, ausastronomer, frogtwat, anyone else?), there is a meeting on Wednesday evening at 6pm with some people who are looking to start up the Central Coast Astronomical Society (CCAS).

The meeting is at Woy Woy, starts at 6pm.

If you're interested in participating, either by ultimately joining the club or being a part of its formation and helping out with it, please let me know via PM/email and I can give you full details.

Thanks!

This is a meeting, not an observing session, so no need to go up there this time around.

One day i'll have a chat to you about observing up there.. sometimes I go to Mangrove Mountain soccer fields, it's pretty good there, nice and dark, but have to carry our scopes a little way because you can't drive down onto the fields.

Who's your boss? I knew the people that owned that place once, played tennis with/against him.. I dunno if it's still under the same ownership, and I can't remember his name (oops).

I went to a party up there about 6 years ago Played paintball there once or twice too.

Mike,

I can't get to Woy Woy by 6pm on a week night and I doubt that Andrew can either. For future reference 7:30pm or 8:00pm is a pretty standard time to start astronomical society meetings, as most astronomers are night owls anyways. I will do my best to get off work early but I don't like my chances. Can you please email me the details. AS of Hunter hold meetings and observing sessions concurrently. Meeting from 7:30pm till about 9pm then observing for 2 hours till about 11pm. Only stopped at 11pm because most of the members were old ( read very old ) and wanted to go to bed.

Brendan,

A better question might be, "how long haven't I been with them". I think it would be about 18 mths since I last went to 1 of their meetings as its too hard for me to get from Chatswood to Col's place at Kurri Kurri by 7:30pm on a Friday night. I do still talk with Col from time to time on the phone and occasionally I see Ken Charlwood and Tony Hitchcock at AS of NSW events.

John, it's not a full on meeting because the society hasn't got off the ground yet. It's a meeting of interested parties who are trying to get it off the ground.

PM me the best email address to send the details to.
