Here you go guys, done, next step fibreglass, the outside with a thin skin..
3 things to do before you build one of these.
1 Book a therapist youll need one later.
2 Convince all your neighbours your eccentric, then they dont care what you do.
3 Get a Diploma in Plane geometry.
4 Get a script for prozac and start the program 10 days before you start the geodesic.
And yeah I know thats 4 things,,,,Ive got threes burnt into my brain,

Guess who just laid 5 square meters of glass mat on his new dome by religious mixing 4 parts resin with one part resin, no wonder it didnt go off, panic,,,rushing off to shop to get some catalyst, hopefully I can brush it over the thin layer of 4 parts resin mixed with one part resin , and it wil still work... Argghhh read the can twice,,,
In fact although the use of shifted number keys is discouraged, I have to say , dopey #@!%&#@d . Which means "Im not happy with myself"
,,,
It was Lesters Idea to cut out the slit after glassing, I agree, because the strength is in the triangles. Ill glass it, all exept for where the slot will be, then frame up an up and over, using the KISS method, I dont want jamming, although Im partial to a bit of Marly, oops late 70,s cutting in, I digress. Yup the cock up with the resin mix is fixed as we speak "type", Its going to take 3 or four days to complete the glass work. I will certainly keep you guys posted..
And Thanks heaps for the kind remarks and encouragement, I need it right now ..
Rigidity and flexure, Im supprised its incredibly strong, , a bit of flex in the panels because they are only 5mm thick , but have a whack at an edge or a corner,,,Nothing,,rigid as,,old Buckminster new something about these, should have done a 3v tho,, never mind...it will turn out good, I hope, 1000 $ so far.
I did that once when building a kayak. I hurriedly just brushed the catalyst over the top and it permeated the underlying layer just fine - it just took its time, that's all..... like a couple of days.
It all ended up great though
Fabbo job you're doing. You've made me horribly green with envy now [where's a green emoticon when you need one?]
Omaroo, love the Avatar, whos the artist, Mate no it didnt look like it was going to , heavy mat, !,,hard on the outside no stick to substrate,,,peeled off easy though, just put half of it back today,,much better...
Acoustically its a strange thing ,,in the dome putting gussets in ,,,dog at me feet,,the dog barked and bloody near defened me, especially if your standing in the middle, hate to be in it a hail storm withou earmuffs..
Domes are accoustically weird things. At Magellan Observatory (Zane - Astroboy) we were huddled in his dome talking as he spun it around. You can hear your own voice in your head shift from side to side as the slit moved - altering the sound stage. As others talked you could swear that they were in front of you when you know they were behind. Crazy thing.
LOL! the avatar? I came up with that in about 15 seconds the other day in answer to a statement that with a name like Omaroo I should get into field tent and tool case manufacture. The artist in me went "ploop" - & there it was.

Know that feeling I have it everyday in the inflatable dome that I use at the schools I go to. It was so hard to tell which child is misbehaving when I started working in the dome now I can tell which row and where in that row the child is.
