C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy) - 30 December

A single 120-second frame of the comet.

Full Resolution: http://www.astrobin.com/144579/0/

P.S. Got 12 frames of the comet but my attempts to stack them in PI have been unsatisfactory...

Looks good to me, I can't seem to get any detail in the ion tail and I am using a 10" f4.8.

Do you mind if I ask how you get diffraction spikes on the stars with a refractor?
Cheers and well done a nice image.

To take this photo I utilised a 0.43-m f/6.8 astrograph from iTelescope.Net.

P.S.I believe there are PS plugins that can add spikes to stars if one wishes to have them.

Okay thanks for that. I was just curious as I read the equipment list in your signature.
Cheers

Sincere apologies for not being clear about the gear. Normally, 99% of the time, I use my own gear that is listed in the signature.

Thank you Trevor. That was my first attempt at a comet, when I get time I will learn how to properly stack all of the 12 frames.

The techniques I tried thus far unfortunately cause the background galaxies, spikes and tiny stars to vanish in the final image...
