Added NGF-dx3 to skywatcher scope today...

Hi all,

Actually got around to installing my NGF-DX3 onto the skywatcher scope today. So whats that mean, it means no more image shift during focusing as the NGF is 1000000000000000000000 + infinity times better than the rack and pinion piece of **** they had on it to begin with, also I can put the Orion accufocus on it and get ultra smooth focusing all the way through focus. The only down side is I need to use an extension tube to focus as the NGF only goes 50mm above the tube where as the R&P went 100mm. I have to wait till Sunday before I can test fit the tube on the focuser but for now it is all laser aligned and ready to go. Oh another good side is the NGF has adjustment grub screws so I can align the focuser precisely to the optical path.

Pics to come. (batteries charging)

I have the same focuser on the 18". I like the fact that it has low profile.

You may be better off with a lower profile focuser and have extension tubes to cover the rest of the distance. Bintel sell a 35mm extension tube and a 50mm extension tube. http://southcelestialpole.org/scpBB/download.php?id=764 here is the 35mm one giving me a racked in distance of 83mm, with the 50mm extension it will give me almost 100mm, which is the same as the Focuser that was on there. The NGF focusers are worth every cent, or as an alternative go with the Moonlite range, also very nice.
