Newbie Orion M42

Hi all,

This is my first ever attempt at astrophotography

This was taken from my backyard in a light polluted area on saturday 29th Nov.

I only got the telescope on the 26th Nov and this is the first night out.

Meade 8" LX200-ACF on standard fork mount, unguided and with a Canon 450D unmodded and a auto alignment.

I held the camera shutter for 90 seconds and it didn't seem to move that much so happy with that.

Waiting on my wedge and Losmandy dovetail and rings to arrive as I have an Orion short tube 80 and autoguider to go on.

I'm very happy with my first DS shot

And so you should be Steve, great effort with some very appealing colours there. Recording views like this is like a bug though, it will likely bite you

Nice start Steve!

And welcome to the slippery but rewarding slope of astro imaging.

Cheers,

Justin.
