28th Aug Widefield Take 3

Hi again.

Yet another widefield shot with the modded 840K toucam. Did a bit of modding of my own by fitting the lens off the 900nc (a far better & wider FOV lens) Sounds easy, but I had to gring a shoulder away on the lens so I could come to focus. 3 hours with a nail file

20 exposures of 120 secs + 2 darks/2 exposures 300 secs + 1 dark.

Stacked in registax ver.2 Piggybacked on the C9.25/EQ5

I image most of the 'blue stars' in this shot would be noise, is this correct guys?

Very nice shot John.
I wouldn't say most of the blue stars are noise, a fair number are real.
Quite a few objects stand out really well, Corona Australis for example.

Well done and goodonya on the mod.

Focus looks a tiny bit soft, but otherwise there's plenty of colour there and lots of detail.

Well done John.. budget equipment does it again!

Thanks guys. Yeah previewing at this low mag @ the minimum exposure setting (.2 sec) is proving difficult

I suppose I have to make a 15mm dia. hartmann mask now

The thumbnail looks great. Got all the colours, dark lanes. All you need is a Zies lens that can take enlarging. Second thoughts perhaps a bigger CCD chip. Thats an incredable area of sky covered on such a small CCD.

Well done mate.
