Orion 9x63 binos

Looking to get the Orion 9x63s - not water/fogproof though. Anyone who has them please let me know your thoughts and if they're OK without a tripod. Thanks. Dave, Perth.

i find 9 power ok without a tripod -a bino with a 7mm exit pupil is well suited to dk skies -i dont like using them around a lot of light pollution [i then prefer to use a higher mag.]
i have lok thru the model down & they were ok -if i rememberbr the ep's arent the widest fov but the edge is better in these binos find

I have the 9x63 Orion "Mini Giant". Never bothered with a tripod as they are quite light for the size (1.2kg) but this depends on how long you want to study an object. They are not the cheapest but give excellent views (5 degree FOV) and nice colour to stars.

The central focuser is easy to spin. Other binoculars I have tried tend to be fairly stiff here, especially in cold weather.

Regards, Rob
