Q&A with Brian Cox

Normally I avoid watching Q&A due to the ABC lefty bias and the stacking of the audience but with Brian Cox on the panel I had to have a look. I must say despite the some members of the audience trying to politicise questions about education, it was an enjoyable session highlighted by Brian Cox and the Mathematician sitting next to him, the rest of the panel were filler as far as I was concerned.

It's good to see intelligent people on television, we see so little of that these days.

If it wasn't for the ABC and SBS you wouldn't see any intelligent people on TV these days lefty or otherwise.

Brian was great to listen to as usual followed by Geoffery Robertson QC on Lateline. It's easy to take the eloquence of these superstars for granted until they're contrasted with more ordinary mortals on a mixed panel.

And in other news cage fighting may be legalized in Victoria - so much more fun watching heads being bludgeoned into the floor than listening to intellectuals

Glen. shaking my head.
I agreed with his last question. life has no point. Especially if we don't leave this rock.
I'll have to go back to I view. Missed most of it

I actually thought it was one of the least interesting panels they've had, all generic rehash.

But on a positive note, any exposure that paints science in a positive light is a good thing. Did you see the reaction of one or two panel members to the statement that time travel into the future has been proven? That's one rapper who now has a newfound respect for science and is probably telling his friends of his amazing new revelation about time travel.

I expect the hot new topic amongst cage fighting spectators will be Einstein's theory of general relativity

It was disappointing. I thought the panel were rather polarized. The performers had little to contribute to the mostly science based questions.
The only common(ish) ground the panel shared was music but they barely touched on it.

I am yet to watch the Q&A but my wife and I went to see Prof Cox in Melbourne on the weekend. Two and a bit hours went very quickly I can tell you.

Agree totally Barry.

The unfortunate passing of Gough today also highlights the lack of intelligence in Canberra as well.

Cheers
Stuart
