Jupiter animation from 15th March

Well, here's a 50 frame animation of Jupiter from the morning of March 15. Each frame is a composite of R,G,B, stacking 300/600 raw frames.

It took about 15 minutes to create each image, so about 12 hours all up :-)

Link to full size version (2.4Mb):
http://www.acquerra.com.au/personal/...-animation.gif

Link to 75% size version (1.5Mb):
http://www.acquerra.com.au/personal/...tion-small.gif

It takes a while to load all the frames, just be patient :-)

regards, Bird

Thanks Ken! Just got inside from the back yard. Skies are close to as good as they get around here. I really enjoyed looking at open clusters thru my recently acquired 30mm SV (bought it from Striker).

Edit: Oops!.. Ken, we're fooling around in non-"General Chat". (moderators, kill away if you must. no hard feelings..)

Cool Steve. They are a pretty good EP. I like mine.

Bird did an excellent job on Jupiter. Something for us to aim for!

Just awesome anthony, a lot of work has gone into it but it looks like it was worth it.

You have to send that off to the mags, APOD etc.

The moon that was late to the party is Io. You can tell from the colour (it's yellow).

Great work Bird! Once Jupiter is out of season cant wait to see what detail you pull from Mars and maybe Uranus?? .. Neptune maybe pushing things a little too far

Nice work Bird.
I know from personal experience how difficult (or in my case lucky) this can be.
Keep at it.

The next for me will be Mars and Luna, and also maybe a break for a couple of months before Saturn comes back :-)

At the end of the year I'll be upgrading to a 13.1" scope and a better camera. I hope this will get me another increase in image quality.

For anyone in Australia/NZ who is thinking about getting a new mirror for their newt, I can highly reccommend Mark Suchting in Sydney. He made my current 10" mirror and is also making my new 13.1".

regards, Bird
