Asteroid... and eclipse from S.A.

While setting up last night, Stellarium gave us a heads up of the asteroid Fides occultation by the eclipsed moon during totality.

We had wispy low level cloud drifting through occasionally but it added nicely to the atmosphere.

So just to be different, here's a pic of Fides next to the eclipsed moon prior to occultation, taken with ED80 and 1100d.

The little BD refractor is nice, love the contrast and sharpness. I'm used to newts, it's a nice change.

My 13 year old girl was in control Wednesday night, her eyes are better for focusing than mine, I thought she did well.

A full size shot untouched except for sharpening before resizing.
