I have had the same experience. I have bought several Dell laptops for myself and family members over the years (I get a good price through my employer). Many of the original batteries have pretty much packed it in after a year or two. I just buy the no-name replacements from Chinese sellers on eBay, and I can usually find a suitable battery with about 20% more capacity for about 1/3 to 1/2 the price that Dell is asking. None of the eBay batteries has let me down yet, and the claimed extra capacity seems real enough - I really DO get more life from the replacement battery than I got from the original Dell battery when it was new.
I would say: give the no-name batteries a try - it's a pretty cheap gamble, and you will probably do fine!
