Computer battery replacements.

My Lenovo lap top computer battery seems its on the way out.Had a quick look on ebay, there are genuine brand name batteries, and non genuine.

The price difference is a lot,is there much difference in them? or should I just get the brand name one?,never bought a laptop battery before.

Thanks for any thoughts

i purchased a no name brand laptop battery off ebay for my old HP 17" lappy a few years ago. it was "twice" the capacity and half the price of the standard one. i was surprised it worked well. you will get good and bad i would assume , maybe i was just lucky?

I have had the same experience. I have bought several Dell laptops for myself and family members over the years (I get a good price through my employer). Many of the original batteries have pretty much packed it in after a year or two. I just buy the no-name replacements from Chinese sellers on eBay, and I can usually find a suitable battery with about 20% more capacity for about 1/3 to 1/2 the price that Dell is asking. None of the eBay batteries has let me down yet, and the claimed extra capacity seems real enough - I really DO get more life from the replacement battery than I got from the original Dell battery when it was new.

I would say: give the no-name batteries a try - it's a pretty cheap gamble, and you will probably do fine!

Hi Chris,

I recently replaced my old Lenovo laptop battery with a new battery from Better Batt in Victoria (http://www.betterbatt.com.au/).

Their prices and service was great and the new battery was delivered interstate the next day.

When I plugged the battery in it said it was a Sanyo, so their internal components seem to be good quality.

I was also happy to support an Australian business. If you are looking for a new battery, it would worth checking out their website.

Cheers,
Mark

My Netbook battery is a 3 cell job because that's how they keep the price down. The replacements come in 3/6/9 cell with the 9 giving upwards of 8-9 hours where the 3 is good for about 11/2-2.
The 9 cell on ebay is as cheap as the 3 cell in Australia so I am happy to try it.
