Stellarvue 110 ED on its way .

Well I bit the bullet and sold my C8 ( few said don't) but I moved into my new home and it has limited yard space and sky to view with. I can see a little to the North and West and South, and have to wait for many objects to pass over head.

I'm getting younger in years ! No but as the years go on I promised myself to buy a nice Refractor .
So after a failed attempt here and there , I said bugger it let's look for a new one.
But one has a budget and can not go to big. I also want to use it with my Bino Viewer.

I was using a AP 130 the other night and the BV would not come to focus!! Not enough in travel !
Again not happy. So I had to be careful on what to purchase. I had a budget of 2 k I thought of the skywatcher ED 120 but also read trouble with this May not come to focus with my BV.
I want focus without the OCS and also with it. Not much to ask!

So after getting on cloudy nights forum this thread helped me make a decision.
http://www.cloudynights.com/topic/46...110ed-arrival/
I thought this scope sounds very nice not to heavy and will do all I need. Yes it may not give the big views of my C8 but I have a friend who lives 10 mins away who has a 18" which he said I can kindly come around and view with thank you.

So then I read this thread, http://www.cloudynights.com/topic/47...llarvue-110ed/
And I thought geez only 3 left as of last weekend , but this is really going to cost me double to get it to my door. Shipping plus taxes. Well ask the finance minister? Ok lucky it was Father's Day . Scope ordered, they had one left I think the order went through. Happy.

Stellarvue contacted me 2 days later as I asked for the extra extender 55 mm for the BV all no problems. FedEx sent me Email letting me know scope is on it's way with tracking No and also rang asking for payment re taxes.

But one will get over the cost as I will have that refractor. Yes I may have got the Orion Bintel sell for cheaper or there may have been another alternative, but I liked and wanted a Stellarvue so I went down that road. Scope was in Sydney last night and today is on it's way to Melbourne.

ETA to my door Monday. Not half looking forward to seeing it .

David

GREAT ACOPE FOR SURE , Congrat's .
If my iStar was not so good I would grab one of these as well , I was just looking the other day on StellarVue's web page at these , a real bargain .

Looking forward to a report and photos , Oh yes , Welcome to refractor land .

One word of warning , they tend to multiply very easily .

Brian.

Having owned a couple of Stellarvues, Dave, I'm sure it will be a great scope, and I think you might be surprised at how close it is to your C8. Contrast is so often underrated!

I hope you enjoy it Dave.

You just reminded me of why I hate FedEx - with me they always calculated the tax, and then charged me extra for their "service" in doing it.
Cheers,
Renato

Hi Dave,

You will love the 110. I have the WO version and I use it way more than I use my 8" Nexstar SCT, which is set up in an observatory. I much prefer the 110.

I just love the sharp images I get in the WO110.

Cheers Pete

Thanks Pete,
I'm looking forward to the scope it arrives tomorrow. I remember some years ago at Snake Valley camp, Chris from NSW had a WO 110 if I remember correctly and I was really impressed by the way it preformed.
Very sharp images and pin point stars and contrast fantastic.
Airy discs at high power around stars fantastic

When I got mine the Moon was up and I put it on the Moon and pushed the power and was stunned by the sharp images. The best images of the Moon I have ever seen through an amateur sized instrument. The only way I would ever sell this scope is if I got a 132 or 150, but there are no plans to do so. Besides, as you go bigger it just gets bulkier. I like the size and weigh of this scope.

Have fun Dave.

Cheers Pete
