My best Lagoon - 60 mins of data

This is the sum of two sets of data, a mix of guided and unguided. Scope was Orion 80ED, mount LXD-75, camera was Canon 350D.

Because this is the sum of two sets of data there are two sets of diffraction spikes. Hmmm, that's the downside of having obstructions and one of the reasons I guess that astronomers invented refractors and Schmidt Newts, etc.. So you can sum data over several nights and not have to worry so much about diffraction from tube obstructions. Why did I put those bits of fishing line in front of the lens again ? :-)

This is my longest dataset ever, at 58 minutes, it has a heap of detail and lowest noise. Exposures were 10x3mins guided and 7x4 mins at ISO800 unguided.

Checkout the big version (which I think looks good) here (only 277KB).

That's an excellent shot, Bill! I don't mind the extra set of diffraction spikes... could be the start of a trademark signature .

Excellent work, you can see the whole nebula including the faint outlying areas.
