Ngc5139

Gidday,
since the other Kiwi member seems to be swanning back and forth across the Tassie I decided I have to keep the home flag flying.
I had a decent night last night, and shot the Tarantula (still in the processing stage), as well as a shadow on Jupiter, (again still to be processed completely).
As I finished the Tarantula I decided to blast one of the old friend Omega Centauri, NGC5139. Why not?
Attached is the shot, a single 3 minute exposure, with the Mewlon 180, and Tak/Mewlon reducer .75x, the Nikon D100 at ISO1600.
Not perfect, but not bad. I'll post the Tarantula and Jupiter when finished.
Gary

Of course it is a word Ving. I always look to see the "Owl's Eyes" as well, when viewing (visually).
If you tip it upside down, or stand on your head, you can see them. (they are in the lower part as it is posted.
Thanks.

Looks just like it did in the eyepiece at the SPSP.. such a beatiful object.

I'll say it again, send it off to the mags.

Lovely shooting mate. Nice work there, good resolution. I always like to see your work mate. Must start doing something myself. Too busy moderating. Clouds today, so it won't be tonight.

Thanks Guys,
Time to come clean though.
The big/bright ones are easier, and I have been bashing my head against the proverbial brick wall lately.
I have been trying a friends MX516 camera, but boy it is hard work. The chip is sooooooooooo small. That coupled with my desire to use a Looooooooooong focal length optic (Mewlon is 2160mm f/l) means heartache, most of the time.
I was lucky, and everything came together.
The shotgun approach does work, if you shoot every night eventually you get one or two that are keepers. Just gotta shoot every night.

What d'yamean "not bad". Looks pretty smik to me (and that is a word) Nice contrast Gary. Is that purely the mewlon or post processing?

Paul.
It has had the merest tweak in Photoshop, (Levels), more to give it a slight lift. The rest is Mewlon.
Gary
P.S. I see the dew is giving you grief. This is something that isn't so bad with the Mewlon. Make a dew strap. (I did).
