I think the central crater ring in Atlas is clear. As usual, the correction for foreshortening is not linear across the image. Endymion is still slightly distorted even though Atlas and Hercules are almost completely corrected. The original size of the large image is quite large and detailed. I can send it separately to anyone who requests it.
I use a 3D render filter in Photoshop. Newer versions of photoshop do not have this filter with the basic installation. Its a bit hard to describe how the filter works on email (I showed it to people at last years astrofest). I first place the image on a map of the whole moon obtained from VMA. I then load this image into Photoshop and place a circle (via the 3D transform filter) around the Moons edge. This converts the 2D image of the moon into a sphere. Then I use the 3D render filter controls to rotate the sphere so that the desired crater is seen from "above". Save image.
This is an apalling description. I will give a talk at the AAQ meeting in November (14th I think) at the Brisbane planetarium. I will bring my computer to demonstrate these and other functions.
