Deep Ha Omega Nebula

Hi all
Just finished capturing and processing a 40 minute (2x 20 min) ISO 400 7 Nm Ha image of the Omega Nebula, starting just on dusk. Modded 350D camera, Baader 7 Nm Ha filter, 10 inch F5.6 newtonian, hand off axis guided. Thankfully the pick off prisim of the guider sees unfiltered starlight. Processed in Iris and Photoshop.
Wanted to finish it up before the Knights V Sea Eagles game at 8:30 tonight,,, Go the KNIGHTS!

I particuarly like this one Scott....it shows plenty of depth for only 2 exposures...nice job.

I also picked the Knights...they better win or I will blame you....lol

Thanks all. Knights lost
By Sunday night I should get a few hours of unmoonlit skies to do some colour imaging with.

Great image Scott. You are tempting me to get a H alpha filter. Have you any pics taken with the 300mm lens in Halpha? I remember vaguely that you did.

Hi Scott

Wow – that is an astounding image! There is something really special about these B&W Hα images, they seem to have a different quality to colour versions. I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up in the era of B&W magazines, TV, etc, or whether their stark beauty and simplicity touches something deeper with our souls.

Anyhow, sorry to hear the Knights lost but great job with the Omega Nebula.

Cheers

Dennis
