Sydney Swan

A wider view of M17 here

Didn't mess with the colours and simply went straight RGB (no-H-alpha)

Maybe just a little flat in contrast but great colours. How is the noise in a larger res image?

Very nice Peter & once again it could be made even better with a little cheating.
In Photoshop - remove the stars with fill.
Sharpen the nebula only & shove it back into the original with a varied opacity.

cheers

Well I could. I could also airbrush a nice smiley face on the swan

Ta Paul. Noise?... I do have a constant ringing in my ears due 4000 odd hours in noisy turbo-props
(as an aside...I expect to be logging my 20,000th hour on "heavies" later this year..)

That's a tough one in RGB. Nailed it, including star colors.

A lovely M17, Peter, especially for such little integration time.

With many brighter objects, you simply don't need much exposure to get a good result.

Happy snap (daylight) photographers get fantastic results in 1/500th of a second or so

It's also worth noting the RHA has 4x the light gathering of my AP155, hence the numbers would read 120:120:120 mins with that scope to get the same S/N ratio.

I have been imaging M17 in narrowband at f/9 so your 30:30:30 is only one noisy sub in each filter for me

That looks great. I particularly like the way the stars are so well differentiated. In some scopes with a wide view like that they can get a bit mushy. These are very well differentiated.

Greg.
