The day the Australian Amateur Photographer got bumped from history

I wish to file a complaint……

AS&T have bumped the Amateur Photographer from history – in the latest issue of the July 2014 magazine there are no photos from the common folk?

Surely with the calibre of the images I have seen on this forum and others there is a plethora of images submitted to AS&T to choose from to grace the pages of AS&T?

Not sure which 3 page article would have replaced the images but surely there is space for some?

I hope so too, but you would think they would have years worth of images on the back files somewhere

I'm not quite sure that I'm ready to cancel my subscription,[yet], but
I do think it is extremely poor form to omit the pics that we all enjoy,
without as much as a reference to it. There are still 98 pages, so it doesn't seem like a cost cutting measure. I wonder if someone on their staff will see these posts, and enlighten us as to what is going on, in
the next issue. I will probably cease buying it if the pics have been permanently discontinued.
Yours disgruntledly,
raymo

If not the amateur astronomer, then whom is AS&T marketed towards? What an odd decision to drop/omit this important feature. In this day and age there in no shortage of amateurs producing some very respectable images (even here on IIS in the Beginner's Section!) which deserve publication.

I am surprised that there hasn't been any feed back from the mag, seeing as there is a big add on the side of forum for AS&T

In the May/June issue they were still telling contributors how to submit
images, but, Andrew, it says that they only contact you if your image is selected for publishing, so maybe you were unlucky this time. Who knows.

If this is true - then I expect if they are dropping Australian content and all we are getting is a regurgitation of US content then they should also be changing the name of the mag and drop the word "Australian" to reflect its trending nature !
It would be misleading for them to continue with the name if they dropped the Australian content.

Soon we will be getting observing tips for Lyra and Cygnus and How to Polar Align using Polaris, maps printed upside down etc etc
There has already been too much of that embedded in the cut and pastes of US astronomy stories.

In protest - I have decided to cease buying it until there is a positive change in direction.
