There was an occultation last night but tonight they will stay approximately
these same distance from each other all through the night.

You can check out "Stellarium" and click the fast forward button to see how they move in relation to each other through the night.

Well, there is a whole thread on the occultation here. Seen heaps of videos and pictures of today on the web, particularly on anything astro related. Not sure why you can't find anything?

A quick search got me this article on the ABC website as well. You've now got fair warning for the next one in August!

Maybe its the terminology? Where does the term "occultation" come from?

Lovely sight though I missed the start but caught it coming back out.

Occultation \Oc`cul*ta"tion\, n. [L. occultatio a hiding, fr. occultare, v. intens. of occulere: cf. F. occultation. See {Occult}.]
1. (Astron.) The hiding of a heavenly body from sight by the intervention of some other of the heavenly bodies; -- applied especially to eclipses of stars and planets by the moon, and to the eclipses of satellites of planets by their primaries.
