Exclamation I'm chasing BIG mirrors - condition not a concern

I really, really hate to double up on threads. Mods, I apologize for this.

BUT, as the Wanted Classifieds isn't the most popular forum, I would like to draw attention to a request I have.

I am looking for BIG mirrors. Not necessarily pristine, or excellent, but useable. The coating quality isn't all that critical, a few scratches won't hurt, just as long as it is useable - you might actually be surprised just how poor the coatings can be and the mirror is still useable.

You know of such a mirror, let me know too.

BIG would be 14" and over.

Further details can be found in my wanted - BIG glass ad in the Wanted Classifieds.

Ta,

Alex.

No, no, no! Not BIG dressing mirrors, smarty pants! I've already got three of those,

Big primary mirrors, Newtonian PRIMARY mirrors. Sheesh...

You wouldn't believe how I misread the title of this thread. For a moment I though I had Alex all wrong.

Modified the title, just in case anyone else gets some smart ideas about me!

Alex,

There's a Pyrex 29.5" going on cloudynights, it's something like 5" thick at the edge and 2.5" in the centre which suggests its under f/1 and would have to be reground to a more useful FL.

Lifting it poses a few problems !

I have had a few great PMs in this. Now that SPSP is over I'll be able to follow them up further.

I am still on the lookout for more. Condition isn't critical as I can work with just about anything, & a mirror can always be reworked.

Wavy, I'll give that 29" a miss - something tells me it's only good for re melting into a new blank...
