Win 8 compatibility

Considering buying a new laptop, and hoping someone knows about any known compatibility issues with Windoze 8, namely:

MaxIM DL

All the CCDWares range

PHD

PixInsight

Appreciate the help. Most new laptops are offered with Win8, but I suppose I could purchase the Win7 disc somewhere if need be.

Of the programs you mention I've only used PHD, and PHD2, which work fine on Win8.
I've heard of compatibility problems but I've never had anything not work on Win8/8.1, and all my hardware has had drivers (Atik, SBIG, QHY5L-II, Lodestar).

PHD and PixInsight work fine under Windows 8. So does CCDSoft and CCDOps.

Biggest thing to be aware of: USB3. It can cause grief with devices sometimes (for me it was the ST-i).

or just purchase through a computer store .. not a big retail store and get the oem version of win7 instead of 8. most offer a choice.

The Lenovo I have came with Win8 pro 64 bit, there is an option to "downgrade" to win7 by contacting Lenovo support. Apparently they give you a W7 key and you have to arrange your own install disk. When you check out laptop options it would be worth checking if the "downgrade upgrade" option is on offer.
