Coffee bean nebula now in colour

Well after a considerable battle with the weather and poor seeing when it was clear here is a colour version of the coffee bean nebula (RCW 98). It's not a spectacular object but I suppose if it was it would have a NGC designation.

Cheers

Steve

Good image Steve!

You're certainly showing us some interesting pic's of these little known objects.

Cheers,

Justin.

Well, I'm sitting here in 36C heat and 100% Humidity (air con though) at Le Meridien resort in Phuket Thailand () …and on this apple screen in the internet area this image looks great …I thiiiink I see hints of decon induced nebulous threads though buuuut they are not obtrusive and the image still looks lovely, especially when taken in context with my current beautiful surrounds!

Nice work Steve

Mike

Thanks Allan, Fred, Mike, Fred and Justin for the supportive comments which I haven't included because for some reason multi-quoting has suddenly stopped working for me.

I thought the deconvolution I did was pretty mild Mike but I certainly acknowledge the image isn't perfect. I played around some more and have now posted a version which I think is better. Enjoy your holiday - it's pretty cold back in Canberra.

Cheers

Steve

Ah yes, very nicely done Steve. The frame is almost filled with faint neb too! Wondering whether you have enough data to bring out the fainter stuff a little bit more (ie not quite so subtle)?

BTW, I think I'll print a small version of this and pin it up on my partition at work next to the sign that says "My blood type is coffee"

Cheers, Marcus

Awesome result Steve, the colours came out beautifully. It is a great little nebula!
I wonder which of the stars are causing the emission. There is a fairly bright one near the centre, but no cluster as such really.

Thanks Rolf. There's not a lot of information about this nebula. Here's one link:

Thanks Marcus. I don't think I'll be getting any more Ha as there is already about 7 hours. I think you would have to label the picture well for your work colleagues to get it.
