Partial Solar Eclipse from Adelaide.

Hi all,

I finished work as the eclipse had started so I was a little late in getting going.. Once home I grabbed the scope and ALt/Az mount but couldn't find my solar filter ARGHHHHH!!!!!! Eventually found it in another box :/ Took off down the beach for a view, it was cold and windy, but I persisted with my son Lachlan. It had almost reached maximum eclipse, by the time I setup so it was a mad rush to focus and start shooting. It was great watching the sun change colour over time and it got increasingly difficult to shoot due to the longer time exposures needed with the filter. I ended up removing the filter and shooting directly, glad I did now, the view was absolutely awesome, I wish every sunset was like that.

All images shot with an 80mm refractor and Canon 1100D, even forgot to take the MPCC coma corrector off

Love the third photo Andrew.
Would have been great seeing it set over the water.
Glad there was enough break in the clouds for some viewing.

Yeah was really cold and windy too, so it wasn't pleasant to be in, but the eclipse made up for it.

Fantastic shots Andrew!,
I vote shot 3 for IOTW!!! That is a cracker!

I showed the kids the view through some huge gums near our
property this afternoon and *almost!* raced down the beach to
try for shots like yours too, knowing it would look great as it set.
The kids talked me out of it because of that biting, cold wind this arvo!

The third shot is great. Shots like these would be near on impossible with the old film cameras.

Some fantastic shots Andy. I agree with others regarding the 3rd shot. Unfortunately, I didn't see any of it due to being at work.

#3 made it as an APOD Extremely Happy with that, and some tough competition by the looks, some fantastic images of it.
