Unfiltered Triffid
Hi all
With Paul's excellent Triffid shot (not nebula filtered), I thought Id have a go at it without the nebula filter too, as I dont seem to get the strong blues with the filter in place.
This shot is 3x10 mins ISO 200, with only the uv/ir filter in place. 10 inch f5.6 scope, modded 350D camera.

Thanks all
IRIS software did its job well here, drawing a box on a small part of the sky background then typing "white" in command box neutralises the sky background, instantly bringing correct colour balance.

Hi Scott, Wow! Really like the extra blue around the red, makes this one of my favourite objects.

Thanks
The sky seems a bit lighter without the uv/ir filter, I guess for an object emitting lots of IR light it would be good but theres better contrast with the filter in place.

Wow, Scott. The dark dust lanes in the front make it look very 3D and surreal. Lovely shot mate, definitely a keeper

Thanks. I think not using a nebula filter allows more colours to come out, whereas only reds seem to predominate in filtered images.
