SBIG self-guide issue

I want to go to 2 seperate rigs/same target soon, and not wanting to buy another Lodestar, have tried using the self-guide chip on the SBIG ST-8XE.

Fired it up in MaxIM, but all I get is a black image with a sharply delineated grey quadrant edge in the right corner. Does this mean the chip is light path obstructed? Or is there something amiss here? Nothing tube adapter wise seems to obstruct the light path (using a Tak specific SBIG adapter). I am connecting it directly to the output of the CFW8 interface connector on the camera.

Still not sure if to co-mount the 2 scopes on the one mount either S X S or on top of each other (other will be an ED80 with the FSQ106), or use 2 mounts. If co-mounted,at least I can use the Lodestar by itself, negating this issue.

Can MaxIM capture 2 imaging camera's simultaneously, or will I need to run an instance of ANOTHER capture software like CCDSoft etc?
