Hi Jake,

A few of us IIS'ers (visual observers), myself, Brian Nordstrom, Simmo, have found a wonderful dark sky site near Brookton, an hour out of Kelmscott. It gives us a great eastern, southern and partial northern aspect, with the west tree lined, thus blocking the low horizon sky glow of Perth.

It is so dark, I could see NGC 5128 in binoculars, with the Tarantula Nebula and the globular star cluster 47 Tuc, easily spotted naked eye.

You are more than welcome to join us. I think there may be a couple more interested. We go out again around new Moon.

If any other IISers would like to join our small group, you are more than welcome, just send me a private message with your phone number and I will let you know when we are going out again. We all meet in the one place and drive out together.

We are going out again around the end of April.

Cheers Pete

Hi Jake.
I also used to head out near Brookton.
I found a few places where you could pull off the main road (Brookton Hwy) and find a clearing.
Use Google earth to scope some locations.

I haven't been out that way for almost two decades tho.
I'm now spoilt with access to a farm in Nannup.

Hey everyone. Sorry I have been.inactive for so long!

I am headed out to Jarrahdale Footy Oval tonight to scope it out a bit and see if it is suitable as a site. I have been recommended to go there a few times now so finally trying it out!

I will update everyone tonight!
