Telrad
Does anyone know where I can buy a Telrad for a reasonable price?
The only online store I can find who has one is Bintel for $89.00 plus postage

I've had a look at the Rigel Quickfinder and read some review comparisons and was not impressed with the Rigel .
Maybe buying from the US is the way to go.
Thanks everyone.

I have to say $89 is cheap. They are cheaper than they used to be! But if you knew how much they cost as a unit from the supplier in the US, then add shipping out, plus a small profit margin, well, the price ain't so bad. And if you treat it right it will last for many years. I call that a good investment.

They're very simple in their concept and design, but they sure are a great gadget.

John we purchased our Telrad from Bintel it's really not worth chasing around for one anywhere else. Once you have one you never want to part with it.

I'm coming to the same conclusion my self.
I bought a "collimator" from Andrews, and it was a waste of money ($29 + $7postage) No mirror and not long enough. The Bintel collimator has a mirror and is long enough to be a sight scope. They also appear to be the only online store in Australia that sells the Telrad.
Too many things are pointing me in the same direction.
How's the Panoptic ?

The 27mm Panoptic is fantastic. Well worth waiting to get one if you can afford it. Some say a premium EP is a luxury but in the low power range such as 27 30 35mm it makes a great difference in enabling you to track down DSO'S easier because of the contrast in the FOV of the EP. As far as we're concerned anything that makes it easier to find objects is worth the money.
And that goes for the Telrad as well. We find it THE BEST THING

Thanks for the advice - I'll probably order a Telrad today from Bintel.
I was hoping to go to Astroron's tomorrow night at Cambroon to check out different EPs, but it's raining at the moment and it seems to have set in.
Queensland - sunny one day, beautiful the next. Yeah, right

Ron is way too much of a gent to say or even think anything crass like "I told you so" but as you saw John it was a beautiful day, warm and sunny and cloudless, and no water over the bridge (no dam yet either!)
It was a great night John, and was a pleasure to share such skies with such an elite group : John, Ron, Don ...... I appear to be the odd one out.
Cheers!

I went to a party once, many years ago. There were plenty of girls, and there were 9 of us guys - 8 Johns and a Darryl .
Guess who got all the girls? (only joking).
Thanks for the great night and all the help. Got to buy me some long johns and a pair of ugg boots or some Huskys - like the sound of the Huskys.
Look in the Buy,Sell,Trade.
