Here's a quick pic of Frank (Spearo) and I setting up our 9.25s ready for a night of imaging and camaraderie at Frank's property between Bungendore and Braidwood, around 70km outside Canberra.
Frank has some of the darkest skies I have ever seen. Prior to the clouds rolling in early on Saturday night the view of the milky way was simply breathtaking.
JohnG pointed out the Emu which I'd never had skies dark enough to see before. It's a sight which will stay with me forever.
I was so shocked at how clear and dark the skies were I confused the milky way with smoke from the nearby house at one stage!
Speaking of which, both the LMC and SMC were as bright as I've ever seen them.
It's a shame the cloud rolled in sometime after 9pm, but we've agreed another get together won't be far away.
Big thanks to Spearo ...
Frank, those skies are worth the drive
