My best Jupiter imagen (until now :D )

A new image. thanks, Mr. Seeing

I obtain "onion borders" and I think that it is due to the SER format that QHY5L II mono use. But I not have found info about it format. Anyone have some tip for avoid these effect?

Great image!!!!!

I cannot really help you with your question, but I've seen the same in some of my own images using a DBK 21 color cam.. So maybe both camera types have the same problem? Or maybe it is something in the processing? Sorry I can't help you.

By the way, if you see Mr. Seeing again, tell him to visit Norway asap!!

The Registax documentation says that this problem is caused by some points to alignment. And solution is to delete these bad points. But it doesn't explain well why and who.

My experience says that this problem is caused by some frames used. As the planet grows and shrinks with refraction you have different borders. AS!2 and Registax align using the points, and stack these frames. The region near the points are well aligned, but the borders of planet not: they are diffuse and change the diameter.
Try manual selection of the frames, with attention to the size of planet. It is better less good frames than many bad frames.

good suggestion! I will try it.

In fact, if the seeing is so bad for to produce this effect, maybe the best solution is to close the dome and go to sleep.

If you use wavelets from Registax, despite of to be stacked with AS!2, you can use the resources of mask inside of Registax wavelets. With it you can enhance details of surface of planet but not so strong at borders, since this mask has adjust of size, radius and histogram.
The "onion borders" will exist, but not so evident.

note: if you look the second photo, original size, with attention, you will see these onions borders, but very faint. I used mask on my process.

That is a grand image, moving in the direction of Damian Peach standard. Good luck with any later reprocessing.

John.

No, I do not use masks. The focus on a satellite I find it very useful .. even when I can not focus and that means it's better to close the dome.

This has been a processed image in just 10 minutes. I do not know if a more thorough job will get better results, but I'll try. And about Peach ... his knowledge of image processing is far from mine, and I would be happy if I could know half.

thanks for your comments!
