Surprise Sunspots through smoke haze

I've not posted for quite some time but I just had to share this as I was so excited! Not the greatest sunspots image but my very first.

Last night I decided to take a few images of the sun through the smoke haze from the fires here in Victoria. To my surprise the haze acted as a filter and revealed sun spots in my 250mm images. My first ever!!!

I would never have thought that this would be possible. Give it a try sometime!

Canon 600D Sigma 18-250mm lens - 1/500s - f13 - ISO200 at 250mm (no solar filter used)
