Just finished watching it....not too bad - a number of good throw away lines. I see in next weeks episode, Sarah Jane Smith is re-introduced along with K9!! She was the companion to Tom Baker.

Hi Volans,

What they did at the end of tonight's episode was show some early highlights of the next season.

Tonight's episode was a "Christmas" special, shown in the UK several months before Season 2 began. We get to see all the episodes one after another.

Sarah is coming up in 3 weeks.

With tonight being the first look at David Tenant as the Doctor I can say he seemed ok, time will surely tell, but I did really like Christopher Eccleston last year, fantastic take on the part! The stories they had last season were brilliant, and with the new 45 minute episode / story format it is very much more fast paced and action packed than the older series were.

Did anyone else go to the "Doctor Who" stage tour about a year ago? It featured Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy (6th & 7th Doctors respectively) in a live format, along with Katy Maning ("Jo Grant" from the Jon Pertwee era). I went along, had a great night. Apparently they had tried to have Tom Baker along too but he couldn't make it - such a shame!

Not bad, I always find a new Doctor hard to get used to. Been a fan since the first episode was shown in UK back in 1963.
Recently brought a DVD box set "The Beginning" showing the pilot and some early series (1963-66) with William Hartnell.

forgot the caption - street sign in LLangollen, points the way to the Dr Who museum.

I agree about the Dr change, I find the new Dr less acceptable, but felt the same about last years. I don't think anyone will ever fill the shoes of Tom Baker, he seemed to have the perfect blend of looks, presence and wackiness to fill the job.

I can't wait to see K9 again he/it was my all time favourite actor closely followed by the Tardis

I agree K9 was a great character, more lifelike than some of the 'real' actors.

On the subject of dogs on TV my favourite character in Frasier is Eddie for the same reasons (just replace 'some of' with 'all of').
Also I saw he died last week aged 16.5 not bad for a dog.

Was given the "History of Dr Who" for my 50th the other month. A thick volume of the first seven doctors. Love it!
My Dad knew Ron Grainer, the guy that composed the original theme. Love what the "Radiophonic Workshop" did with it.

Hmmm... spoilers for those who haven't downloaded the episodes or been surfing the reviews on websites.

I see, though, that Torchwood's season begins on BBC in October. Could be worth a look (by appointment from you know who)

Netwolf,

Torchwood is a spin-off from Doctor Who (it's also an anagram). It was referred to as a "Weakest Link" question in Season 1, and it was the group who developed the "laser" that blew up the ship in the Christmas Invasion episode.

Now, it's got its own season, and starring in it is...Captain Jack! There are several websites about it. Do a little Google on it.

Cheers,
