Back from the North Island.

Just got back from Australia.... the big bit. We've been away for 12 days, most of which was spent in the "chilly" winter of Brisbane, which to us was like early summer in Tassie (T shirt weather). Thanks to the hospitality of Andrew Durik (astro_south), I had a good night observing and saw many targets I'd never seen before as well as trying Andrews collection of TV Ep's and re-acquainting myself with MS flightsim. Andrews son Stephen nominated himself as the welcoming committee and did an excellent job. As I left Stephen (6 years old) said "I've enjoyed chatting with you; we'll have to chat more in the morning, but you probably won't be here so it will have to be next time." We returned via Melbourne to see the now 9 month old grandkids and see Fiddler on the Roof. It's great to be back home after the noise and traffic of Brisbane and Melbourne.

Glad you got to sample some of our terrible winter weather up here. Shocking isn't it Shame about the jet stream though

Now we've made up a list for you to attend to and we've let some thread really heat up just so you can quickly get back into the swing of things

Thanks guys, I should mention that the brief, from HRH, before we went was : " The kids need you to help hang a couple of doors"; which translated meant, half the house needs re-wiring, we want you to sand, paint and hang 8 doors and while you're at it install a couple of ceiling lights, new light switches and move two ceiling lights. Next trip I'm going to try and source a babelfish for translation before I go. On the way to A2s' house, I had the pleasure of using a Garmin Streetpilot (GPS), the ultimate gadget, so simple to use and very effective.

Hey Phil,

Glad you had a great "working holiday"
BTW come up to my place next time I need a new observatory, I'll supply the beer.

I'll PM you all the people who've been naughty on IIS (like Paul and John said.)

Glad you're back mate.
