Just got back from Australia.... the big bit. We've been away for 12 days, most of which was spent in the "chilly" winter of Brisbane, which to us was like early summer in Tassie (T shirt weather). Thanks to the hospitality of Andrew Durik (astro_south), I had a good night observing and saw many targets I'd never seen before as well as trying Andrews collection of TV Ep's and re-acquainting myself with MS flightsim. Andrews son Stephen nominated himself as the welcoming committee and did an excellent job. As I left Stephen (6 years old) said "I've enjoyed chatting with you; we'll have to chat more in the morning, but you probably won't be here so it will have to be next time." We returned via Melbourne to see the now 9 month old grandkids and see Fiddler on the Roof. It's great to be back home after the noise and traffic of Brisbane and Melbourne.
Thanks guys, I should mention that the brief, from HRH, before we went was : " The kids need you to help hang a couple of doors"; which translated meant, half the house needs re-wiring, we want you to sand, paint and hang 8 doors and while you're at it install a couple of ceiling lights, new light switches and move two ceiling lights. Next trip I'm going to try and source a babelfish for translation before I go. On the way to A2s' house, I had the pleasure of using a Garmin Streetpilot (GPS), the ultimate gadget, so simple to use and very effective.
you were giving me those geography lessons the other day and now i have embarrassed myself for the first time ever on this forum. How can the other forum members ever take me seriously again!!!
