ISON from Melbourne

Comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) from Melbourne +8 above the horizon at 4:30am

Saxon ED100 with Canon 600D
25x30sec images staked in nebulosity then heavily processed in CS5.
If you squint very hard you can just see a bit of the tail lol

Boy was this one hard to capture and process. At 4:30am the sky was getting bright so fast I had to ditch the CCD and use the DLSR.
So this is the best I can do I think.

Well done on getting out and giving it a go. That is a serious imaging challenge but you learn a lot about astrophotography and your gear by working in a time critical window like that. Thanks for showing us what you got.

Good shot Paula.

Tomorrow morning will be interesting as it's near Spica and flaring!

Thanks Phil, the first 10 min when it came visible above the horizon the ccd was too overexposed. Lucky I had DSLR with me and just kept clicking away untill it was washed out. Finally gave up about 5:15am.
I was a tricky subject being so low on the horizon with the sun rising.
