Wireless Gamepad

Good Day All

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive model wireless pc game-pad to use for wireless control of the telescope mount , or any advice on the pros and cons of these devices,

Thanks
Andre

What mount are you controlling? Most gamepads cannot directly control a mount. I only know of EQASCOM using the gamepad. If you are a member of the EQMOD yahoo group then under the database tab there is a list of all sorts of gamepads that people have used. I use a Saitek P900 for my setup, only uses 1 AA battery and lasts many nights. Has about 13 or so buttons that can be allocated to whatever you want in EQASCOM. I have also used the Logitech Wireless Rumblepad2 and have not had any issues with that either. Both work straight out of the box with windows installing drivers. I got my Saitek of Gumtree for $15. So you can get them really cheap, you just have to be patient and look around.

Wireless Game Pad

Hi
I have a EQ6 mount , I just need to have wireless to my laptop , I had a Microsoft flight controller joystick ,but for some reason it just stopped working with ascom , that is why I needed to know if there are preferred models.

I ordered a Astrum -game pad for R 130.00 really cheap !! , I shall test it next week.

Thanks for the response

Andre

i have a logitech wireless gamepad f710. works great. no drivers needed under windows 7 and takes normal AAA batteries so if they go flat out in the field...you can change them...

I too have the same Logitech F710, got it working with ASCOM pretty easily but can't say I have used it much, played around with assigning the various buttons etc to different functions. Looks like it could become useful especially in a permanent observatory setup.
