M16 in Ha

I wanted to try out the HDRComposition feature in Pixinsight so this is a combination of 24 x 5min and 12 x 10min subs.

I used my William Optics TMB 110 and Moravian 8300 camera.

Captured with Sequence Generator pro and processed with Pixinsight 1.8

I have included a crop of the Pillars as well.

Thanks for looking

Hi Geoff,

You probably need to go much less than 5 mins on the short exposures to avoid saturation of the bright stars. Try a small preview around a couple of brighter stars and run the 3d plot script. If they have flat tops then they were saturated.

You're getting decent detail for a small scope. The stars look a bit hard like they've been oversharpened?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick, Ill try out the 3D plot. The stars do look a bit crunchy, the original isn't as obvious, maybe the compression to 200k has had some effect?

Yes, there's a good chance it is the IIS image compression, Geoff!
